The West Virginia Insurance Guaranty Association (“WVIGA”) is an unincorporated non-profit association created and governed by West Virginia Code Chapter 33 Article 26.  WVIGA is comprised of insurers, who are members of WVIGA as a condition of their authority to transact insurance in West Virginia.  The principal responsibilities of WVIGA are to pay the covered claims (as defined by law) of insolvent insurers, and to provide a mechanism for assessment of member insurers to raise the funds needed to pay those claims.
